This book contains one of the emost remarkable collections of old photographs taken by Robert Londen in the late 1940 early 1950's at Hawkesbury stop near Coventry. They illustrate the close relationship between all ages and types of people in the boating community living on the single and paired colourful narrowboats. Sonia Rolt has provided an introduction and captions that provide a rare insight into the community. She herself worked on the boats and knew the photographer.
